"Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, krishna krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare."
Chaitanya mahaprabhu was born in West Bengal and was a Bengali Hindi saint. He was the chief proponent of the Achintya Bheda Abheda and Gaudiya Vaishnavism tradition. He is the burning example of one of the Yogic path i.e, Bhakti yoga. Being a prominent Saguna Saint ( with attributes i.e worshippers/ devotees of either Shiva/ Vishnu/ goddesses ( devi), he also expounded the Vaishnava school of bhakti yoga and was a ardent devotee of Lord Krishna. He popularized Kirtans ( religious songs) as a form to worship Krishna ( earlier said the bhakti yoga) . He also wrote a text"SIKSASTAKAM" which is a Gaudiya Vaishnava prayer in eight verses.
His path to find the Saguna Bramha was devotion . A pure crystal clear heart with complete devotion is the best way to find HIM ( that Bramhan) according to him. He said the lured, idle people that ," wake up the sleeping souls, and do Kirtans ." Finally that mortal being ( naswar) was mixed with the immortal ( anaswar) in 1534 at Puri , the abode of Lord Jagannath.
Let's summarised some of his words and teachings.....
1. Liberation is the unification of Atman with the paramatma so keep going on that path with complete devotion.
2. Without Bhakti there cannot be love, and without love Krishna cannot be attained.
3. Oh , son of Nanda ( krishna), I am your servent, fallen in this terrible ocean of the world. Please consider me in your mercy only a speck of dust at your feet.
4. Bhakti marg is the practical and easy marga ( path) to mix-up with Him ( krishna).
5. Oh, my mind, be humble than a blade of grass, be patient and forbearing like a tree . Take no honor to thyself ,give honor to all and chant unceasingly the name of the Lord.
6. Oh, Lord, I don't pray for wealth or retinue, nor do I pray the playthings of lust or the toys of fame . Grant me , oh , lord, only this : as many times as I may be reborn, I may have an unconditional love for thee.
7. When will, Lord, on chanting your name tears flow from my eyes , voice get choked and hairs all over my body stand on their ends.
8. Love to all and be a pure devotee of Him ( krishna), He is there to soak up all the hurdles.
9. Oh, Lord, various are thy names, and in each and every name thy power resides in full . Also, no times are set , and no rites are needed for chanting of thy names . So vast is thy mercy and how huge ,then ,is my wretchedness that I could not develop love for thy name yet. ( Line taken from gems of the world's religion book).
To conclude ,the crux of Chaitanya mahaprabhu's life is Love, kindness and devotion which is very vital now .. we can apply that principal like , Love for thyself ( Atman), kindness for others (without discrimination) and devotion towards that eternal energy ( Param Bramha).
Happy learning..
