Indian philosophy is regarded as one of the world's oldest philosophy and it is practical in nature. It is the way of life to realize the ultimate reality. The core teaching of Indian philosophy is to leberate the soul ( Atman) from this cycle of birth and death ( SAMSARA). The Indian philosophy is founded on the principal of karma . It throws light on the concept like purusharth, parmarth, Dharma, nishkama karma etc .
#purusharth- it is the way of life . It is an art of living. The term'purusharth' means the goal or the end that every human being ought to seek. It contains four items- Dharma,Artha,Kama, moksha. Man is a rational, social, moral and spiritual being. His needs are to be satisfied. Good life consists in the pursuit of four supreme ends, namely Dharma (virtue),Artha (wealth),Kama (desire),and Moksha (liberation). Artha satisfies material needs of individual, kama satisfies psychological needs and moksha aims at spiritual satisfaction. Dharma accompanies throughout the life.
# paramarth- After passing through the purusharth one can attains the state of paramarth .( paramarth= great value)
# Dharma- the term ' Dharma' is derived from the root'dhr' meaning to hold together, to sustain, and to nourish. Thus ' dharma' literally means' That which holds together.' It is the basis of harmony in individual life and order in society. Human's dharma must be humanity not any other stuff.
# Nishkama karma- this concept is derived from the Gita . Which means be a selfless worker. We have the right to perform the duties but not the right to seek the result . Result will be given by the almighty accordingly to our deeds.
( Apart from this there are many concept in Indian philosophy which all are true and in the sense of practical in nature)
The Indian school of philosophy are broadly classified into two groups based on the authority of Vedas i.e Orthodox (astika) and Heterodox ( nastika).
#ORTHODOX( astika)- these sect have belief on the authority of Vedas and they recognise the Bramhan ( the ultimate reality). Six philosophical systems fall under this school i.e MIMANSA, VEDANTA, SANKHYA, YOGA, NYAYA, and VAISHESHIKA.
# HETERODOX (nastika)- these sect are completely opposite of orthodox . They don't accept the authority of Vedas . Three chief philosophical systems fall under this category i.e the Charvakas, the Buddha, the Jains .
The most interesting fact is that except Charvakas, all Indian schools of philosophy accept the law of karma.
In the coming post it will be more detail analysis of the Charvakas philosophy and the six orthodox philosophy ..
